In this section you will recommend a strategy for external competitiveness which is covered in detail in Chapter 7 of the textbook. In short this is about how FastCat will compete with other organizations for talented employees. There are three items in this section: Pay level, mix of forms, and strategy support objectives. You should use these headings in your assignment and include a Credits list at the end.

Pay level:This is your recommendation as to whether FastCat should lead, lag, or match the market. There are advantages and disadvantages to each choice. Be sure to explain your choice and to address the impact on labor costs, attracting and retaining quality employees, motivation, etc. Typical length: 1 paragraph.

Mix of forms: This is your recommendation for what FastCat’s mix of base pay, incentive pay,&fringe benefits should be. Each is expressed as a percentage of total compensation so it will need to total 100%. Explain why you are recommending the particular percentages and the impact you expect it to have on FastCat employees.Typical length: 1 paragraph.

Strategy support objectives: Explain how your recommendations support the compensation objectives you established in Phase I.Typical length: 1-2 paragraphs.

Remember at this point we are still only working with what jobs are worth, not particular employees so be sure you are not referencing the performance levels of individual employees.

Credits: At the end of this section include a list of the topics in the assignment and who worked on which ones. Be sure there is an even distribution of work on the assignment.
